Protect Health & Safety Limited can help you to establish whether asbestos is present on site, by analysing material samples at our UKAS accredited laboratory.
We can collect samples during an asbestos survey or analysis samples collected in-house, produce an
asbestos register and, if required, arrange
asbestos removal or advise on
routine monitoring and control for any asbestos left in place.
Asbestos can be found in a wide variety of different locations. We can analyse suspect materials for you, to confirm whether they contain any asbestos.
It is not possible to determine whether or not a material contains asbestos simply by looking at it. Whilst fibrous strands can sometimes be spotted
in asbestos containing materials, the most reliable way to confirm composition is through analysis in an accredited laboratory.
Protect Health & Safety Limited laboratories use stereo and polarised light microscopy (PLM), together with dispersion staining techniques, in accordance with official guidelines,
HSG 264 (formerly MDHS 77). Our laboratories participate in the Asbestos in Materials Scheme (AIMS) and are UKAS accredited to EN ISO 17025 for 'asbestos sample analysis'.
We can analyse material samples collected by a competent person within your own organisation for just £15+VAT (£18) per sample. Please double-bag small samples of the suspect materials (approximately 1cm x 1cm),
clearly labelling each one with a unique reference number, location details and 'contains asbestos' warning. Remember to include your contact details in the package.
